About Zumba® fitness

So what is Zumba and why is one of the best forms of cardiovascular exercise? Zumba It's a very exciting dance fitness party with an atmosphere full of Latin and international music. You'll forget you're working out with fun and simple moves to dance music like Salsa, reggaeton, cumbia, merengue and more. Best of all, you don't need any previous dance experience! 

It's fun and effective, using interval training (Which is prove to be the best way to burn body fat and exercising your heart), Zumba combine fast and slow rhythms for an effective aerobic workout while at the same time targeting your legs, abs, glutes and arms.

The workout is basically watch and follow. The moves are repeated often enough for you to catch on and they're not complicated. The routines are repeated week after week with additions every now and then to spice things up even more! 

According to the Zumba website, "Zumba combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations that allow the Zumba participants to dance away their worries. It is based on the principle that a workout should be 'Effective but FUN" in order for participants to stick to the Zumba fitness program to achieve long-term health benefits. Zumba is not only great for the body, but it is also great for the mind. It is a 'feel happy' workout."

About Karina Dugand

 “Fitness and Dancing” Have been always part of my life. I am originally from Barranquilla, Colombia, a musical country; I grew up in a family where music was always present. I danced since I was a child.  I was always a part of my school dance team, took private classes, and gave private and public dancing presentations as a group, as well as couple dancing. It was not only a way of life; it also has always brought me tremendous satisfaction.

I got my Bachelor degree in 2009 in Colombia and move to the US in year 2000 where I became a certified personal trainer (AFAA); started training for competing in different local physique contest and open my own business “Discovery Bay Personalized Fitness Assistance” where I train my clients in a one on one setting, all this as I continue with my education in fitness and nutrition. A few years later I became a Zumba Instructor, and now thanks to ZUMBA, I can enjoy the passion of dancing once again and share it with others while at the same time incorporating ZUMBA into the fitness field I was already in and that I love. The fact that ZUMBA was created in Colombia added even more meaning to me.  It couldn't get any better.  It was like a dream come true.  ZUMBA gave me the opportunity to teach and share with everyone, all the fun, energy and benefits that cardiovascular exercise can bring, all while “having a blast”!
